… Acquisition makes El Camino Trailways one of the largest charter coach and shuttle service operators in Northern California and Nevada…
SAN FRANCISCO – February 1, 2008 – El Camino Trailways, listed in INC 100 magazine as one of the fastest growing transportation services companies in 2006, today announced it has completed acquisition of Nevada-based Aztec Transportation to further accelerate the tremendous growth rate it has established under its new leadership and management since 2005 delivering 114% growth in 2006.
Aztec Transportation has been one of the fastest growing charter motorcoach operators in the state of Nevada since its inception in 1999. The company’s growth has been fueled by the prestigious contracts it has secured to operate Kirkwood, NorthStar and Sierra Tahoe – Booth Creek Ski Holdings properties – Guest and Employee Shuttle Services. The company has also been operating Trolley and Dial-a-ride services for the Town of Truckee for the past five years.
The company also announced it has established a new base of operation in Carson City, Nevada. With this addition, the company now has bases of operations in San Francisco and Santa Clara in Silicon Valley, and now Carson City, Reno and Stateline, NV and Truckee and South Lake Tahoe, CA.
“With our new base in the Reno/Tahoe Region, we are ideally positioned to serve the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, San Jose-Stockton-Sacramento corridor, San Francisco-Stockton-Sacramento corridor, and now San Francisco-Lake Tahoe-Reno and San Jose-Lake Tahoe-Reno corridors,” said Mike Watson, Managing Director of El Camino Trailways. “The acquisition also adds Lake Tahoe and Reno to San Francisco as attractive Tourist Destinations and Convention venues, which we are now ideally positioned to serve.”
With the addition of the Aztec fleet, El Camino Trailways now operates one of the largest charter motorcoach and shuttle services fleets in Northern California.
“We are delighted to join forces with El Camino Trailways, a leader in the charter bus industry in California with its aggressive growth, progressive and visionary consumer-oriented Internet/web-based marketing, and strength and quality of its management team,” said Tom Parker Sr., ex-President of Aztec Transportation, and Director of El Camino Trailways’ Reno/Tahoe operation. “Our merger with El Camino Trailways will allow us to capitalize on the growth opportunities in Tour and Travel, and Conventions market in the Lake Tahoe and Reno markets.”
“Acquisition of Aztec and establishment of a new base of operation in Nevada are very strategic to our plan to expand and extend our Tour and Travel, Conventions and Corporate Event charter services business into Lake Tahoe and Reno markets,” said Kumar Shah, chairman of El Camino Trailways. “After evaluating several acquisition opportunities, we selected Aztec for its strong presence in these markets and strength of its customer relationships.”
With this acquisition, El Camino Trailways, a member of the Trailways organization, has also brought the Trailways brand of safe, reliable and comfortable motorcoach service to the Reno/Tahoe market for the first time.
